Can You Spot the Washi??

I know it looks like this layout is made up of patterned papers and stickers, but did you know there's washi on there too??

Although the cute bow looks like it's made of paper, it and the pink polka dot strip at the top are both made from washi tape!

For the bow, I adhered a 12" long piece of washi tape to a small strip of white cardstock, this way the cardstock would help the washi keep it's 3-d dimension once it was cut and made into a bow. A few pieces of foam tape inside the loops of the bow will keep them from being flattened once the layout is in an album.

It's fun to see all the creative ways washi can be used!

Lace in Bloom

One of my favorite things about Love My Tapes, has to be the variety of tapes they offer...Washi, Fabric, and beautiful Lace tapes.  I have been so excited to work with the Lace Roll Tapes, since I joined the Team and knew I had to use them on a very girly layout.  What's more girly than Ballet??!!  So, I went to work on some Lace flowers to go with the photos from my daughter's first day back to Ballet class this year.

These were SO EASY to make!!  I had some Glubers in my stash, so I took out two different sizes.  Then I unrolled the Lace tape and removed the backing as I went, adhering it to the Gluber.  Start on the outside edge of the Gluber and work your way toward the center.  To help the flower shape "lay" down a little better, I added in a pleat about every half inch.  It really helped to give the flower more dimension.  If you don't have any Glubers, you can get the same effect, by punching a circle or cutting one on your die cut machine.  The Lace tape has it's own adhesive, so you could easily attach it to your circle.  Once you are finished forming your flower, you can finish off the center with buttons or brads.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see some Lace flowers blooming on your next layout!!  :)

Merry Christmas

Hi!

Kathy Martin here. I hope you all had a terrific weekend and are ready for the week ahead. Today I have a wintertime washi tape project for you.

One of my favorite new Love My Tapes styles being released is this "Merry Christmas" design.

I layered it over some gray/white polka dots tape since I thought it looked a lot like snow, you know? ;)

A little music note charm hangs over the 'e.'

I created reverse cut snowflakes and filled the centers with rhinestones.

There you have it, an easy holiday washi card. Have you started making any holiday cards or projects yet? I know, fall just started this weekend. Enjoy!

Designer Spotlight - Rita Barakat

Hello Love My Tapes friends!

Today, we would like to feature Rita Barakat, a long time Design Team member.  We thought it would be fun for you to get to know Rita a little better, so we asked her several questions.

How long have you been crafty? What got you started in creating ART?
I have been crafty all my life - when we were little my mom always kept my brothers and I fully stocked with art supplies!
Maybe that's why I still collect (OK hoard) all types of art media today!

What is a craft tool you can’t live without?
What? I have to choose? Probably a scissors.

What is your favorite Love My Tapes product?
The lace tapes are my favorites - they go with just about everything!

If you could create your own LMT product, what would it be?
I would create some fabric tapes with white on white.
Like polka dots or some type of pattern that you could mist or color and the pattern shows up!
A resist ribbon? That would be cool!

What ‘old school’ product would you like to bring back?
Hmm, I dont know- if it's something I love I probably still use it!

Please share a quirky fact about yourself.
When I scrap I have to have some TV show on - reruns, not new and not movies (usually Smallville),
I can't concentrate with music or silence!

I don't know about you, but a resist washi tape?  How cool would that be?

Thank you Rita for sharing a little about yourself!
Thank y'all for stopping by!  Have a great Thursday!

Fabric Tape Fun!

Hi everyone! It's Mary Ann here today with a layout using fabric tape.

I used the sherbet mini check fabric tape along the border, and used it to the cover the wood veneer frame.

I love how the tape looks on the frame, and because the fabric tape is self adhesive, it was so easy! I just laid pieces of the tape all around the frame and cut off the excess. A perfect page accent.

Thanks for stopping by today, we love to inspire!

Bringing Your Background to the Forefront!

One of my weaknesses in the scrappy world is definitely patterned paper.  I love it, I buy it, I hoard it!!  :)  Well, my love for patterned paper got me thinking, "what can I do with my fun patterned Washi Tapes?".  And a light bulb went off...make my own Washi Tape patterned paper!  Here's what I did:

I thought it would be fun, to use the green diagonal striped Green Washi Tape, to create an energetic background to go along with these action photos.  I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock 7x7.  Then I just tore the Washi strips a little longer than the 7 inches and lined up the first piece along the edge of the cardstock and folded over the ends.  I repeated this process across the cardstock, but alternated the stripes to add a little "motion" to the page.  Once I finished adding all of the strips of tape, I placed it in my Expression and cut a negative title at the bottom of the paper.

So make sure you look for ways on your next layout, to create your own personalized patterned paper, with your stash of Washi Tapes!!  You could even mix up various patterns of tape for a cute, eclectic look!

Heart You

T.G.I.F. Love my Tapes fans!

Kathy Martin here with a bit of love and washi for you. Good way to kick off the weekend, don't you think?

After I placed strips of this love themed washi on my card stock, I stitched along the edges of the tape.

The sentiment is a Silhouette die cut.

With a detailed background I didn't want to add too much as far as embellishments go.

A little crochet flower and brad seemed to fit the bill.

Aren't these tapes fun?

Washi Tape anyone?

Hey bloggers Rita Barakat here!
The kids are back in school (yay!) and already I am thinking

Of course I had to decorate mine, (but you could let the
kids do it) I will add their pictures as I get them!

Here is this totally cute washi tape I used from Love My  Tapes!

Washi + Triangles = Love!

Hi Everyone!  Ashley Horton here and I am SO EXCITED to be sharing my first post with you at Love My Tapes!!  When I received my package of tapes, I was very happy to see a Pink polka dot tape!!  I knew that would be the first one I would use for a layout.  So I put my thinking cap on, to figure out how I wanted to use it on my page.  Well we all know, of course, that Washi Tape is a huge trend, so I thought why not incorporate it into another huge trend...Triangles!!  Triangles are popping up everywhere in the fashion and crafty world, so I decided it would be fun to use them on my layout.  Here is how I created my Triangles using the Washi Tape:

1.  Cut a strip of the Washi Tape, about an inch and a half.

2.  Next, fold over one side of your tape, bringing it to the center and folding at an angle.

3.  Then fold over the other half of your tape, to meet up in the center.

4.  Once you have your Triangle formed, just cut off the excess piece along the bottom.

And here is how I used the Washi Tape Triangles on my layout:

I just used a little bit of adhesive from a fine tip Zig pen to attach the Washi Triangles and finished off the page, by adding them as photo corners and also adding some outlined Triangles!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you were inspired to find new ways to use your tapes from Love My Tapes!

Lovin' the Lace Tapes!

Hi it's Mary Ann here today with my very first post for Love My Tapes! I am so excited to be part of the team, and can't wait to share my love for paper crafting with you!

Here's a layout I made using two colors of lace tape layered across the page and as a flower embellishment too.

To make the cute flower I just layered the 2 different colors of the lace tape directly on my layout. Starting with the yellow lace tape, gathering and twisting into a circle, then adding a layer of the pink lace tape underneath and finishing off with a flair button. The best part about the lace tape...it already has adhesive added!  Making the flower was so easy to do, and no sticky fingers because I didn't have to use any glue!

Thanks for joining me on my first post here today at Love My Tapes, I'm already working on my next project to share with you :)

Can you spot the tape? September Challenge!

Happy Friday and Hello Weekend!

Tina here today with a layout I created for CHA using several Fabric and Washi Love My Tapes and with our new September LMT challenge.

I love creating layouts using a grid pattern.  The grid can be squares, circles, triangles, or whatever shape you want.  The grid can be off-set or in the center of the page.

One of my favorite grid techniques is to create a window in my background paper, and 'fill' each window with stickers, embellishments, and of course TAPE!  :)

Can you spot all the places I used tape in my little windows?

I used tape in all but 2 of my little window canvases, and I even used tape as a border on the bottom of my page.

Your challenge this month is to create a project using a grid pattern and use tapes in fun and creative ways in your 'canvas windows'.

Here are the details.
1.  Create a layout or card with a grid pattern, that uses tape in a fun and creative way.
2.  The challenge is open until September 21st.
3.  A randomly chosen winner will win some LMT goodies.
4.  Link up your projects below.

Make sure and participate as I am looking for future Love My Tape Guest Designers.  Link up your Challenge projects here and share your other LMT projects on our Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate

Hi!

Kathy Martin here with a project that mixes some awesome Love My Tapes washi with wood, jute, metal, mother-of-pearl and a crochet doily.

How's that for texture?

Can you spot the washi tape?

It's overlapping a couple spots on the patterned paper strips.

Sometimes just a touch of washi is all you need. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!
