Make a Rainbow with Washi

Hey there, friends!  Missy here with you today to share a page I created using lots of LMT washi tapes.  I'm a huge sucker for rainbows, and they're fun to create...especially when your photos are black and white.

I started off with white cardstock and an arrow stencil.  I used black ink to lightly brush on the arrows.  I then used a small circle mask that I created myself and cut on my Cameo.  I used a rainbow selection of spray inks to create "rainbow ombre" effect across the page.   Next came the washi strips!  Easy peasy...just peel and stick to add to each color block.  I added some stamps and some of those tiny little glass beads.

I don't use flowers a lot, but I loved the colors and wanted to add these in.

One of my favorite things to do now is add twine, floss or cord to my pages like this...just wind it up and glue it down.  I like the whimsical look it gives...like it just randomly landed there or something :)

Summer Striped Card

Hello Love My Tapes readers! I have a card to share with y'all today using just some plain "airmail" striped washi tape. I used the teal striped washi tape from the LMT shop and staggered the stripes from strip to strip. My sister totally thought it was patterned paper. :) Since the design was so BOLD, I went minimal on embellishing… kinda new for me! 

In case you're wondering, the sunshine paper is a free printable from the Two Peas in a Bucket shop. I thought it looked nice and summer-y.

In other news, this is my last post for Love My Tapes. Certain circumstances have come up and I have decided to leave this team. I hope you have enjoyed my posts here on the blog, because I sure have enjoyed coming up with new ways to use washi tape!

Using Washi Tapes 3 Ways on 1 Layout

Hey there, friends!  Missy here with you today to share a page I created using some of my fun LMT washi tapes.  I've been wanting to scrap these photos of my little one on her 2nd Birthday.  I found an Imaginisce birthday party paper pack on clearance at Hobby Lobby a LONG time ago and had never used it.  So, I pulled it out and went to work.  I didn't have any embellishments that coordinated with these papers, so I relied on washi tapes, stamps, buttons, and fussy cutting from patterned papers.

I decided to use my washi tapes three different ways on this one page:

1.  To help build my corner clusters.  I also used some old ribbon, an arrow stamp, a button with a bow and a few elements that I cut from patterned paper.

2.  As actual tape...you can see where I "taped" some of the photo edges.

3.  As a border...at the bottom of the big brown piece of paper housing my photos, I used the red & white stripes and the yellow stars as big strips to bring in more color.

I just love how washi tape an add so much to a layout, and all you need it just a little bit of it.  I don't know how long I scrapped without it!  I hope this inspires you to get your hands on some and start taping!

A Simple Tip

Hi LMT readers! It's Heather here today to share with you just a quick tip to inspire you to get that washi tape out of your stash and use it! I have a lot of fun adding bits of washi tape here and there and I know you will too! 

For this week's project, I used washi tape in a very simple way. I added strips of washi tape and lace tape to the top and bottom edges of my page to kind of keep the eye from drifting off the page. I had the main focus of my page in the upper right corner of the page and I didn't want to just leave the edges blank. It's not very eye-appealing. So I added some washi along with some patterned paper strips (from the bottom piece that you cut off of some papers… I love it when it has an extra bit I can use!).

I love the awesome texture washi tape adds to my layouts. Not only did I include regular washi texture, but I also used lace to accentuate one side of my page. The lace tapes are so fun and easy to use! As you can see from my page, you don't have to use lace on only "elegant" projects. I include it on my fun pages and it softens the mood of the overall page a bit, I think.
