Creating Subtle Hints with Washi

Hey there, LMT fans!  It's Missy here with you on this wonderful Friday, and I'm sharing a fun and girly page I created using a few rolls of LMT washi.  I really love using washi for all sorts of effects on my pages.  For this page, I added it in at the end to create subtle hints.  I used the pink polka dot tape here and there to throw in little bits of pink in areas that needed it.  I also used the tiny blue grid tape for the same reason in various places.  That's what I love about washi tape...you can make it the center of attention on your layout, or you can tuck it here and there to give small hints of something interesting.

Hi AJVD fans. This is Annette with a card that uses a small amount of lace tape, but when strategically positioned on the card, it adds balance to the design and elegance to the look. I guess it's like the saying goes, quality, not quantity.

I tried something new and somewhat unique with this card. I centered an oval die onto the front of the card base and die cut it. Then I placed the transparent backing paper that comes with clear stamps onto the back and adhered it with some handy Zip Dry glue. I have a ton of those backing papers just lying around. I hate to throw them away!

Next,  I die cut the black oval slightly smaller than the oval I used on the card base. I then embossed it with a honeycomb embossing folder. To make the hexagons pop, I lightly rubbed white chalk ink on the raised part. Then I tied some embroidery floss around it, placed a button, tag, lace tape and the flowers on the oval before adhering it to the clear backing paper.

Notice how the sentiment curves with the oval? The stamp is actually straight! I curved it and adhered it to my brand new Fiskars Stamp Press. I don't think I could have achieved this with an acrylic block. I love how it wraps around the oval. To finish off the card, I added my signature bling. 

Greeting Card Purse Set

Hi, everyone!  Today I have a greeting card purse set that I embellished just a bit with some Love My Tapes lace tape and decorated with Flourishes stamps.  I will be showing you just the bit of the purse that I added the lace tapes to but if you want to see the entire project, check out the Flourishes blog for more details.  :)

We all know that tapes are a great way to add a bit of flair to a project and that is just what I did here.  :)

Here you see the base of my card purse without the tape added.

And, voila!  A couple of rows of lace tape and the base is transformed!

WISH upon a STARFISH...lace tape

Hi there!  Happy Wednesday to you all!

I have a card to share with you today, that I plan to use as a birthday card!

I love to find new uses and ideas for products that aren't necessarily intended.  

For example, lace might not sound like something that you would associate with a 

piece of sea life.  However, I had seen a photo of a starfish that was gritty & porous 

with color and texture reminding me of this tape! 

I decided to play off a 'Wish Upon a Star' or simply 'Wish' theme and used 

this taupe lace tape from Love My Tapes for my "starfish."  

I added a tiny piece of washi at the top of one of my all time favorite tapes.

This may not be too masculine in feel, which is what our monthly challenge for June is about,

but it was nice to see some little hearts after lots of boyish projects! :)

A little fancy

Hi, everyone!  Janice here for your third Monday of the month post!  :)  Today I'm taking a break from all our masculine themed projects (hope you've been inspired!) and posting something a little fancy.  ;)  If you haven't had a chance to join in on the masculine challenge, you still have time!  Hop on over HERE to enter.  :)

I used three of my LMT lace tapes to create the bottom portion of my card.  Aren't those lace tapes gorgeous? I adore them.  I simply adhered them directly to the card, laying the widest one first and the narrowest one on top. The flowers were created using Spellbinders dies, and some beautiful flourishy bling.  :)

Creating embellishments with washi tape + a Dad card

Happy Friday!  Missy here with you today to share a few "manly" projects that I made for Father's Day :)  I'm terrible at making masculine things...mainly because I have two daughters.  I mostly scrap girly things, so it's hard for me to keep things "boyish."  I decided to give it a try for this project, and it turns out it wasn't that hard after all :D

I pulled out some neutral colored washi tapes and made long strips of them on some cardstock.  Then I punched out different sized circles to scatter around my page.  I've had the fun mustache tape for a while, but I've never used it.  This layout was perfect, and I cut out some of the mustaches and used them as cute little embellishments!  Easy!

Washi tapes are so fun, fast and easy...and those circle embellishments took me no time at all.  

I also threw together a card...and I don't particularly excel at making cards.  Especially "Dad" ones.  I went through my stash of old papers and found this red, white and blue striped piece.  I've been wanting to use this navy patterned tape for a while now, and it looked great against my paper.  I also added strips of the red & white striped tape to pull out some of the reds, and then topped it off with a strip of the mustache tape.  Easy and quick, and my dad will love it!

If I've learned anything from these projects, it's that venturing out and trying something new is okay.  And even if you're out of your comfort zone, it's nice to try something out of the ordinary for you.  I wound up liking both of these projects, even though they were intimidating at first.  You never know what you might come up with :)

Using Gender Neutral Tapes on a Masculine Card

This is Annette with a confession: I don't have a lot of masculine tapes. I'm a girly girl and, like most card makers, I like the glitter, bling, flowers, pretty colors ... It is a bit of a challenge for me to make a masculine-themed card with very few masculine tapes from which to choose, but if you know me, then you know I'm up for a good challenge.

While the tapes I chose aren't exactly "masculine," they're not feminine either. They are pretty gender neutral. When paired with other masculine-themed design elements, they can add that extra punch and still maintain the manliness that our men prefer. LOL!!

Here is my birthday card for "Pop." The red, white, black and beige color scheme are gender neutral. Add the one word - Pop - and you instantly have a masculine card!

Now, let's see your masculine card! You don't have to have "manly" tapes to enter. Use something gender neutral and pair it with other masculine design elements like a sentiment or an image of something the man your life might like such as golf, fishing, computers, sports, etc. When you're done, enter it into the June challenge. You have until the end of the month. The winner receives a prize package from Love My Tapes.

Masculine Tapes: Fabric Tape and Woodgrain Tape

It's Heather here! Today I have yet another "manly" project to share with you LMT readers! I haven't made a 2-page layout in a while, so I thought I would use some washi on a 2- pager this time. I had these photos of my dad and his old truck laying around for who knows how long and I thought this challenge was the perfect chance to get them scrapped! I already had a sketch ready for the photos (I have to print my photos to my page design or I go crazy). The sketch is from Scrapbook Generations a while back. I used washi tape as the little border strips on the bottom. The blue dot one is actually fabric tape from the Love My Tapes shop. Fabric tape is awesome! It's so easy to use. I almost like it better than the regular washi! Anyway, I used the blue dot tape and then layered some border stickers and patterned paper on top and then I added some woodgrain washi tape to the mix. Washi tape is so easy to use on a 2-pager because you don't have to really worry about it being crooked. Once you put all the other stuff down on the page, you just stick it on (I used the other papers' edges as a guide to make the washi straight) and then you're done! 

So, I hope you are even MORE inspired to participate in the challenge we have going on right now! Just create a masculine project using washi tape in an awesome way (inspire US with your ideas!!) and link it up on this post HERE by the end of this month.

Happy Father's Day - June Challenge!

Happy Wednesday from Jenni!  

For the month of June, Love My Tapes has a Masculine-themed challenge and it 

motivated me to get busy on all the Father's Day/Grandfather's Day cards I needed to do!  

I used some of the green soda bubbles washi tape and laid it in a diagonal pattern 

on some plain cardstock.  I cut that paper in half and rotated one half to make my 

chevron pattern line up.  After layering it on some more patterned paper,

 I used my all time favorite wood grain washi to tape a die cut banner to the cardstock!

 Done!  Easy Peasee!

Our challenge is perfect motivation, so check it out and get busy!! :)

A Cheeky Masculine Card

Hi, everyone! Janice here today with a fun and quirky card to go along with our Masculine-themed challenge for the month of June.  :)

I created this card with a fun and "cheeky" guy in mind!  :)  I used one of the rolls of the Love My Tapes Camellia fabric tape set to create my striped background.

I've been dabbling a bit in video tutorials and have been loving them, so I thought I'd make one for this project. This video shows you how I made this card step by step, so be sure to check it out!
