Quick Easter Decoration w/ Ange

 Good Monday morning to you!

It's Ange here today with a quick Easter decoration for you.

I have these fun little wooden magnets my husband cut out for me a few years ago when he made me a wire decoration for my living room, to hang my newly made layouts from. The magnets go over the screws he used to attach the decoration to the wall.

I'm constantly changing the layouts I hang from the decoration, so it's really fun to have these little magnets to change to go along with the current holiday. I put a base coat on them, but then wasn't sure what else to do, because, well..., its fun to change them each year, right?

Enter Love My Tapes!

Washi tapes were the perfect solution. Each holiday I can pull the magnets out, take the tape off from the year before and put some fun new tape on!

Here I've picked 4 different polka-dot colors from the store; yellow dots, purple dots, blue dots, & green dots. Then I layered them closely over each of my eggs.

Next you trim the edges with your scissors as close as you can then push the tape down along the edges.

Finish your eggs with a bit of ink or pen work.

Take Time notebook

Hi, Ange here today!
One of my favorite projects is decorating one of these composition notebooks that you can pick up during the back-to-school sales.

It's super easy and fun. Here's my latest one:

Fun right?!

Just measure the front cover, cut your paper and glue it with Mod-Podge.

 Then have fun decorating!

I used Love My Tapes and the Springtime line from Moxxie.

I started with the awesome Clouds with Love tape, adding it in strips of different lengths to give it a cloud feel. Then I added a fussy cut butterfly sticker to give it some whimsical fun.

The Diamond tape in Hot Pink was perfect for the binding. I added two layers to make it a bit bolder and to help cover the small gap I had between the black tape and my cover.

No more boring black cover, but something fun and useful.

Washi Tape for Home Decor!

Hello Love My Tapes fans - Susie here today!  I really do *adore* my washi tapes and even find myself using them for home decor.  The project I am sharing today is the perfect example.  I used a classic color combination of black, white and bright pink to create a pretty, feminine and useful dry erase board!

I found this acrylic frame in the clearance aisle of a home dec store at a 90% discount!  I love the scalloped edge!  The other cool feature of the frame is that it is 2 pieces of clear acrylic held together by really strong magnets in each of the corners.

I cut an 8x10 piece of white cardstock and matted it with black cardstock.  I love this Butterfly/Music washi tape!  It is over an inch wide and is so classy!  I put a strip across the top and bottom of the cardstock and added strips of the Hot Pink striped washi along the side edges.

I used a stencil to add the text by coloring through the stencil with a black micron pen.  I used bits of washi to hold the stencil in place.

I created a subtle background by stenciling butterflies onto the white cardstock.  I chose light colors so that when I wrote on the frame with a black dry erase marker it would be easy to read.

I have a stack of post-its I keep handy to mask off areas where I do NOT want there to be ink.

I blended 2 shades Distress Ink, Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick

Here is the finished piece before I put it back into the frame...

The dry erase marker wipes right off  and there is no danger of damaging the beautiful background I created.  It is perfect for leaving notes or making lists AND being stylish at the same time!  Be sure to check out the Love My Tapes Etsy Shop to see the whole range of washi tape and find something to perfectly accent your decor!

Altered nautical picture frame

Hi LMT friends!  It's Jaclyn here today to share an altered picture frame with you.  

I've had a stack of pretty new nautical themed papers sitting on my workspace that I've been dying to dig into.  However, since I had plans to alter a picture frame, I knew I would want more than just paper in my crafty arsenal to work with.  Lucky for me, LMT has a bevy of patterned tapes to fit just about any color and theme.  This red and white striped washi and light blue star print fabric tape were just begging to be paired among my list of nautical supplies.

The red and white stripe tape made a great backdrop for my overall design.  I simply laid strips of it along the length and width of each edge of the picture frame.  It went on smoothly and easily and creates a fun and coordinated look.

I used the light blue fabric tape to paper piece the cute little stamped sailboat image.  I love the added pattern and texture it adds to the stamped image.  Again, it was another quick and simple way to add the tape into my design.

Storybook Houses

Charity Hotrum here, today I am sharing a set of wooden houses
 framed with washi tape. 

Each of these houses has a different stamped image, colored, and adhered to a wooden block. To secure the edges I used corresponding colors of washi tape. As a final step I added Mod Podge to protect the surface.

Memory box with glitter cardstock

Hello Love My Tapes fans!

This is Maya and today I am going to share a cute project I did that was on my mind for very long time. I admit, I have a weakness for shadow boxes. Unfortunately I didn't make many of them but I am just excited to think about all the possibilities. I found a square shadow box with a slot on the top and decided that that will be the one I will finally make. After thinking through few options, I decided to make a memory box for my daughter to collect her Broadway show ticket stubs.

I used patterned paper for the back of the frame and a Shakespeare quote cut from vinyl on the glass.

I used the beautiful Love My Tapes glitter cardstock in deep red to accent the stage curtains.

The glitter cardstock adds another level of dimension  and reminds me of sparkling Broadway lights.

The first ticket stub is inside. I hope she will have many more to fill the box.

Morning checklist with washi tape

Hello, Love My Tapes fan! This is Maya and today I am going to share a fun project that I hope will become an important part of my son's morning routine.

My friend told me about a clothespin chore chart she wanted to do for her kids and I immediately thought that it can really help me and my son with the morning tasks. After some changes to the original idea that what I came up with.

I covered a simple clipboard with patterned paper and added letter stickers to the top. I covered the seam between the "to do" and "done" halves with beautiful Love My Tapes washi tape.

Each clothespin represents a morning activity, It is covered with washi tape from both sides. I used a thin sharpie to write the task.

If this will work well for us I will make another set of clothespins for the bed time routine, using a different washi tape.

Altered album cover with washi ape

As many of you, I accumulated an impressive stash of scrapbook supplies and products that I just had to have because one day I will need them. You know what I am talking about! So when I was looking for an album for an online class I am taking I decided it was time to shop my stash.

I found a simple 4x6 photo album that needed some alterations.

The first thing that I did was to paint the album cover with gesso. I used sponge to eliminate the brush strokes. I knew I wanted to use "everyday" chipbard sticker so I started from the bottom by layering three pieces of Love My Tapes washi tape and the chipboard sticker.
Next I finished the title using the various letter stickers from my stash and added two more small pieces of washi tape to the top of the cover.

I added gold marker to the grid letters and finished with an arrow paper clip and few pearls.

 

 

I plan on using the same tapes throughout the album to give it a nice consistent look.

Altered plastic berry box

Hello Love My Taps Fans! This is Maya and today I will share with you a simple craft - altered plastic berry box. My box actually came with fresh figs. The figs were delicious and the box was too cute to throw out. I put it on my craft desk and decided I will certainly use it for something.

 

After more thoughts I decided that it can use some improvements. I pulled out two rolls of beautiful Love My Tapes fabric tape and weaved it through the plastic bars leaving the paper backing intact.

 The secure the tape I peeled about 1/2" of the backing and cut it off.

The whole process took about 10 minutes and I had a cute storage container for my craft room.

 It will be perfect for my most used washi and fabric tapes.

 It can also hold my favorite adhesives.

Or it can stash an emergency supply of snacks for the late night crafting time.

This project can be easily done with kids. Hope I gave you some ideas for creative re-purposing,

Decorating on the go

Hello, Love My Tapes fans! This is Maya and today I will share a quick decorating project.

Right now I am on family vacation in Israel, spending the weekend with my sister and her family at beautiful B&B in kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot. We arrived in the afternoon and after we settled down in our rooms we started getting ready for dinner. While the men worked the grill and my sister was in the kitchen I pulled out few rolls of washi tape I brought with me, an empty chocolate tin and made a cute vase for our dinner table.

I started with an empty tin of chocolate truffles (that were delicious by the way) and three rolls of chevron washi tape.

 I peeled off the tin wrapper and added four rows of grey washi tape.

I filled the gaps with green and red washi tapes. I found the flowering branches in our B&B backyard.

 The tin is the perfect size to store the washi tape rolls when it is not used as a portable vase.

The whole project took about 15 minutes and made our family dinner even more special.
I suggest next time you are travelling, throw few rolls of washi tape in your bag, you can never know when you will need them.

The Washi Notebook

Happy Wednesday!  Rebecca here!  I don’t know about you, but I’m always craving more color in my life.  In my “non-crafty” life, I work in a design office.  I’m not working in a cubicle (thank goodness!) but I’m always looking for ways to add a little bit more color around my desk. 

Hence – the washi notebook.  I carry this notebook around all of the time.  And having it color coded for each week really helps me find notes quickly.  (my scribbling as been camouflaged to protect the innocent :))

 I’ve also marked pages that have important information that I reference regularly.

This isn’t the first time I’ve washi-ed (that is an appropriate term!) a notebook.  Here’s an older photo of an old planner.
