Washi as Patterned Paper...!

It is Jenni here, to share a layout I did using fabric tape and washi tape

 from Loves My Tapes instead of using a patterned paper.

One of the new fabric tapes at Love My Tapes is this gorgeous yellow, 

grey & white chevron tape.  I love the colors, and it is chevron, AND it reminded

me of this patterned paper in the Studio Calico Snippets collection!

I love it when things go together, but as they say on "What Not to Wear",

they should go...not match!!  Not that I think that is a hard and fast 

rule for fashion, or scrapbooking...however, I loved that this fabric 

tape was similar to the SC paper, but a different scale!  

I started  by cutting a background with my Silhouette out of white card stock.

I loved the variation of some corners being rounded and some not.  

It was inspired from the photo of my son swinging in our very rigid square of gravel, 

but the swing that curves around whatever size little person sits there! ;)  

Along that same curved line the geo tag and astrology chart were inspired...

I love highlighting a negative cut out with patterned paper or in this case, 

the red star washi that was a perfect match, to my son's shirt, to the yellow swing 

seat & card stock I cut it from, to the stars in the astrology paper!  

I used each cut out piece from the frame background, and cut it a little smaller 

to have a black border underneath.  I layered the fabric tape onto that 

card stock and rounded the corners!  I love that it "goes" but doesn't match exactly.

It just looks like more patterned paper!  

I finished off the background taping it with some of my favorite grey & white

 dot washi from LMT at the corners onto this 12x12 map print.

Embellishing With Tapes

Happy Friday, LMT fans!  It's the weekend...finally :)  I sure hope you're planning some scrappy time this weekend!

Missy here today to share with you a fun & easy way to use your tapes for embellishing on your projects.  This is a page I created using the new Vintage Bliss line from Simple Stories.  A few of my LMT tapes coordinated with it perfectly!  I used it in a few different ways.  The teal tape I used as a border strip along the left hand side.  I also used another long strip of it above my arrows.  You can use your tape in place of patterned paper, which is what I did here.
  

I also used a roll of coral colored fabric tape as a border strip here...it looks just like patterned paper that coordinates with the paper line.

The is was the most fun!  I took a roll of white lace tape and covered some paper hearts I punched out.  I tinted it pink by dabbing a small paint brush into some watered down coral colored paint, and TADA!  Pink tape!  You can do this with any color.  I LOVE the texture and dimension the tape gives!

There are so many ways to use your tapes...try and think outside the box when creating your projects.  A little bit of tape can go a along way, and those little details can make a big difference on your pages!

Quality Not Quantity

 Today I'm sharing a project that uses only one strip of washi tape. While the amount of washi tape is small, the impact is big. The contrast between the black and white chevron tape against the hot pink and lightning yellow colors really makes the tape pop.

In addition, I followed a sketch provided by Cardmaps. Have you ever sat down to make a card and just didn't know where to begin? I have. Sketches provide a great starting point and many are versatile enough to incorporate washi into the design.

 When creating projects - whether they are cards, layouts, giftwraps or anything else - consider how washi tape can fit into your design.

Hi! It's Heather back again today with a super fun way to use Love My Tapes!

I used washi tape in my journaling. You might ask "How in the WORLD??" but it's really easy! I wrote out my journaling on a scrap piece of paper and circled the words I wanted to highlight with my washi tape. For me, planning is everything. Then I wrote out my journaling on my page, leaving space for some of the words. Then I tore off some washi tape the size of the allotted space I had left in my journaling and then placed some letter stickers on top of the washi! Originally I thought I would just write on top of the washi, but I wasn't sure what type of pen to use and I didn't want to it to rub off, so I just used letter stickers instead. Something that you might want to note is to use very sticky stickers. Some of mine tried to come off, so I might have to go back and add some additional adhesive to those. 

This is a fun and easy way to liven up your journaling with some Love My Tapes washi! I hope you are inspired to use washi tape in your journaling now! :)
