Designer Spotlight! Heather Meeson

Today we're happy to feature designs created with Japanese Masking Tape by Heather Meeson. Heather is a very talented artist who creates adorable cards and was recently featured on the Hero Arts blog. Here's a bit more about Heather



"Heather, who lives in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, has been a staple on the A Muse Artstamps Design Team for many years. When she's not sharing her creations on her blog or the A Muse News Blog, you may just find her teaching in a store near you."

Heather created some fantastic cards with Japanese Masking Tapes. Here's a look at her amazing work


It's no surprise that banners are hot and soo easy to create with our Japanese Masking Tapes as Heather has shown on this adorable card.


This card is super fun with a few strips of the tapes layered on the bottom of the card.


Heather included a step by step tutorial on how to create this adorable Easter card with Spellbinder dies and the masking tapes. Here's a look at the card

And here's how you can create your own take. Layer strips of the masking tapes on cardstock

Lay the oval Spellbinders die over the place you want to cut your die and run it thru your Cuttlebug or Spellbinder.
Add some punched grass and other Easter punches from Martha Stewart crafts and you've got an adorable card.

Hello friends! Hope your week is starting off well. Today's Tuesday Tape tip is stamping on the Japanese Masking Tapes. "Yes you can!" The washi tapes withstand heat very well which makes them ideal for stamping and embossing the images. Here's a quick tutorial on this technique.

I'll be using the following styles today:

Awayuki (tourquoise with flowers right)

Akane (yellow with flowers right)

Sora (dark tourquoise left)

Let's get started...


First place strips of the masking tapes on white heavy card stock.

Next stamp your image with black ink, I used Versafine Black Onyx and sprinkled clear embossing powder over the image. You can use Stayz On back ink if you don't want to emboss your image but I suggest embossing because the finished look is so much nicer.
I used a flower from Hero Arts Cling set

Here's the embossed image. Notice the tape is not wrinkled at all from the heat emboss. Now you're ready to cut out your image and create your card.

Here's my finished card. I layered some other styles of the masking tapes on the right side of the card and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment on the left. I added some pop dots behind the cut out images to add dimension and used some gems in the center of the flowers to draw out the yellow tape from behind the flowers.
This card took 25 mins from start to finish

Hello friends! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Today's fan mail comes from Theresa Amlong. Theresa currently lives in Japan (lucky girl) and loves Japanese Masking Tapes she found at local stationary stores. Konichiwa! Hi, I’m Theresa. I’m a Florida resident who currently lives in Japan. I love tooling around Japan with my husband taking photographs of the usual, the unusual, and even the mundane. When I’m not busy teaching English as a Second Language, I can be found enthusiastically creating in my scrapbook room. I love to inspire others to scrapbook and encourage the belief that there is truly no right or wrong way to go about it. Designer Spotlight

It's Thursday and that means we're featuring another Designer in the Spotlight!! This week's Designer Spotlight is...



Heidi is the Design Team Coordinator for GCD Studios and designs for Anna Griffin, Piggy Tails, 3M Scotch and Scrap Within Reach. Heidi's work can also been seen in the current and past issues of Creating Keepsakes Magazine as well as many other scrapbooking publications. We love Heidi's clean style and eye for detail. Heidi's work always reflects current trends so it's no surprise she was excited to work with our Japanese masking tapes.

Tuesday Tape Tip

This week's tape tip come to us from Jen Coker. Jen is the owner of an online store called Torendi which means "trendy" in Japanese. It's no wonder Jen loves Japanese Masking Tapes, they are a current trend in the crafting community.
Jen's tape tip is to use the Japanese Masking tape as a border on cards. Here's a cute card she created to show her technique

Monday Fan Mail

Good Morning! Hope you all had a great weekend! I got some more fan mail this weekend from Bobbi Miller, one of our giveaway winners. She created a cute recipe book project with Love My Tapes and sent us some pics to show

That's a great value for 33 feet of strong double sided adhesive that won't break or gum up and you get a full strip of glue with each swipe. And as Bobbi reviewed, it's great for holding ribbon.
Bobbi also posted a review on her blog Bobbi's Hobbies about what she thought of Love My Tape's double sided adhesive. Here's a bit of her review:

Just want to say that I do love this adhesive. It worked on ribbon which is my biggest problem. I just could not find anything that would hold down ribbon that well. If I used a liquid adhesive I would have to sit there and hold the ribbon in place until it dried. I also tried to run my ribbon through the little Xyron and it would not stick to the full length of the ribbon. I ran this adhesive along various ribbon for my projects and placed it down and it stayed plus it is clear tape so even on the gauzy ribbon you could barely see it. I used this adhesive to put paper on chipboard and it stayed in place. I will be going back for more of this adhesive.

Designer Spotlight! Lisa Spangler

Hello friends! We're really excited to be featuring Lisa Spangler on the Love My Tapes blog today! If you're a fan of Hero Arts stamps then you've seen Lisa's work on the Hero Arts Club blog.
Lisa lives in Austin Texas and enjoys many crafty hobbies which include crochet, cardmaking, stamping, sewing, felt, cooking and photography.
Lisa's work is so inspiring. She has an amazing eye for color and style not to mention she's a really talented card maker. I was checking out her blog, sideoats & scribbles and came across some of her artwork with Japanese masking tapes and was blown away. There really isn't a lot of work out there in blog land with the tapes because they are such a new trend so it was exciting to see that Lisa loves the masking tapes as much as we do. Here's a look at some of her work



I love how she incorporated the spring colors of light tapes into this fantastic card



I also like how she layered several different tapes to create a wonderful plaid pattern. Lisa has a special post on her blog today with a card she made using more of the Japanese Masking Tape. Stop by and take a look at her card here
