For today's project I framed some treasures I found.

~ What If I Fall? ~

 

This wall decor was a super quick project and is now adorning my porch.

To lay the washi tape straight I measured and drew lines at 1/2 inch intervals on a scrap piece of paper. I lined up the bottom of my patterned paper with the first line. I set the washi on the patterned paper so that it it hung over the edges and lined up with the remaining lines.

 

 The poppy I picked up on a walk around my neighborhood.

The feathers were generously donated by my neighbors chickens!

Black and White and Red All Over!

Hello Washi Tape Fans!
Susie here today with a volleyball layout that is "black and white and red all over!"

The tapes I used in this project may be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy store:

Red and White washi, Camera washi, Black and White Stripe washi

This is basically a monochromatic layout except for the "pops" of red on some of the sticker embellishments that match my daughter's jersey.  I used the Red and White washi to add a bold stripe of color on the left side of the layout.

I liked the film strip element and added a piece of Camera washi right along side it...can you see it peeking out?

Another piece of Red and White washi visually lifts the silhouette sticker off of the background here:

I used the Black and White Stripe washi in two places on the layout.  Here it creates a strong horizontal line under the picture and out to this silhouetted figure:

I also used it as a a ribbon on the journaling tag I have tucked behind the photo.

That 'stache

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos.

The mustache washi tape is super fun and so trendy just now.

I used it on this layout to completely cover an 8 inch circle of cardstock.

To enhance my theme I wrapped smaller circles with the same tape.

Recycled with Washi

Hi! It's Candy ... today I wanted to share a recycled tin that, with the help of washi tape, has now become a beautiful pen holder. (PLEASE NOTE: Although I placed Distress Markers in the tin for the picture, they should never be stored upright ...)

I started with an empty soup can, which I painted white. Then, I wrapped a strong adhesive around the can to hold burlap in place. (Elizabeth Craft Designs or Scor-Tape works best). Adhere burlap.

Next, I placed a strip of washi tape onto white cardstock -- this will keep the colors bright and true, since washi tape is transparent. I adhered that to the center of the can and then added strips of additional washi tape directly on the burlap.

I added some pearl ribbon and a die cut and medallion to the center (to cover the edge of the paper) and it's done.

I cannot wait to fill it with pens and pencils and set on my desk.

Tulip Time Layout

Hello Washi Tape Fans!

Susie here today with a spring layout featuring 5 different kinds of washi tape!

The tapes I used on this layout can be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy shop:

Blossom, Yellow Floral, Olive Green Diamond, Turquoise Chevron, Wood washi tapes

I chose the tapes based on the colors in the photos of my daughter and her basket of freshly cut tulips!  

The rhinestone strips emphasize the colors and line of the washi tape.

I covered some white cardstock with the wood grain washi and used an edge punch to 

create the decorative layered element under the main photo.

Clean And Simple Cards

Susie here today with a couple more CAS cards.
These Clean And Simple cards require a little bit more work than the set I shared with you last week - but not much!  We all have some fun stamps in our collections, right?  Combining them with ready made images and strips of washi  can help you quickly stockpile some very cute all occasion cards!

The tapes I used for these cards can be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy shop:

Clouds with Love, Red and White, Wood washi tapes

On the first card I started with a double row of coordinating washi tape along the bottom.  I used a stamped sentiment, added a red rhinestone heart and the Snapshot Sticker before adhering it to the black cardstock base.

Here's a close up.  The heart in the kitty's thought bubble actually used to be more pink.  I colored it with a red marker to make it coordinate with the tapes I wanted to use.  Cute and simple!

For the second card I just used a lot more layers of cardstock, choosing the colors of the cardstock and the washi to coordinate with the focal image.

Here's a closeup of the wood grain tape I used.

These cute cards were so fast to make!  I think it took about 20 minutes total for both cards! You can find the supply list on my blog HERE.

Cute CAS Cards for All Occasions!

Hello Washi Tape Fans! 

Susie here today to share a couple of Clean And Simple (CAS) cards.  I do not make cards very often and these are just my style!  They are quick and easy and incorporate just a few elements:  

a stamped sentiment, a photo sticker, and washi tape!

I chose these 2 rolls of washi, which you can find at the Love My Tapes Etsy store, because they coordinated with the Paper House Snapshot Sticker images I wanted to use:

Triangles Washi, Bunny Frog Washi

Did I mention these cards are super simple?  I started by cutting a piece of 8.5" x 11" white cardstock in half and folding it to create a card.  Next I laid down a strip of washi about half an inch up from the bottom.

I stamped the sentiment, applied the photo sticker and the card was done!  

I love the way the washi tape makes the colors in the photo sticker *pop*!

The next card was almost as fast.  This time I created the base out of grass green cardstock.  I trimmed the white cardstock to 4"x 5.25" and adhered the panel to the front of the card.

I thought the whimsical critters and the colors on this washi tape were a good match for the fun photo sticker and the "happiness" sentiment!  Who doesn't love a cute kitty card?!

Two seriously cute cards in about 10 minutes!  

It took longer to gather and put away my supplies than it did to make them!

Layer with Washi Tape to add Dimension

Hello Love My Tapes fans!  Susie here today to share a beach themed layout that uses bits of washi tape to add accents and dimension.

I used this vibrant red and white washi tape, which you can find in the Love My Tapes Etsy store:

I started the layout by stenciling on white cardstock.  I wanted to match the rope net design in this paper:

I added layers of patterned paper and bits of the vibrant red and white washi tape...

...carefully positioning it so that it peeked out from beneath the layers creating subtle dimension and strong accents.

Here I applied the washi tape to white cardstock and trimmed it out to add a *pop* to the strip journaling:

You can see it peeking out here at the bottom of the layout.  The orange-y red is a perfect match for the colors in the paper line and my son's swim trunks!

I added a chipbboard word and rhinestone bling from my stash...

...and a cute little die cut crab!

Add a Little Grunge to your Washi Tape!

Hello Love My Tapes fans!  Susie here today sharing a fun and grungy layout of my husband and son working together on a little car maintenance!  When my husband was in college he worked in a garage and picked up lots of skills that have saved us a ton of money over the years.  I am happy to say he is passing that knowledge on to the next generation!

I used the Navy Blue Spray Painted Numbers washi on this project because the color matches the jacket my son is wearing in the pictures.  It also matches the blue in the chevron paper and the "Gasoline" tag on the layout.  The grungy paint splattered design on the tape matches the feel I was trying to create on the layout.

The only issue I had was that the white on the washi was a little too bright.  Fortunately, I have a super simple trick for fixing that!  I adhered a piece of the tape onto my craft mat and then applied some color with a blending tool.  I used the same ink that I used on other elements on the layout. 

The washi tape does not absorb a lot of color, so even though the ink looks very orange, you can see in the pictures below that it just made those areas into an "off white."

Washi Tape for Home Decor!

Hello Love My Tapes fans - Susie here today!  I really do *adore* my washi tapes and even find myself using them for home decor.  The project I am sharing today is the perfect example.  I used a classic color combination of black, white and bright pink to create a pretty, feminine and useful dry erase board!

You can find the tapes I used in the Love My Tapes Etsy store:

I found this acrylic frame in the clearance aisle of a home dec store at a 90% discount!  I love the scalloped edge!  The other cool feature of the frame is that it is 2 pieces of clear acrylic held together by really strong magnets in each of the corners.

I cut an 8x10 piece of white cardstock and matted it with black cardstock.  I love this Butterfly/Music washi tape!  It is over an inch wide and is so classy!  I put a strip across the top and bottom of the cardstock and added strips of the Hot Pink striped washi along the side edges.

I used a stencil to add the text by coloring through the stencil with a black micron pen.  I used bits of washi to hold the stencil in place.

I created a subtle background by stenciling butterflies onto the white cardstock.  I chose light colors so that when I wrote on the frame with a black dry erase marker it would be easy to read.

I have a stack of post-its I keep handy to mask off areas where I do NOT want there to be ink.

I blended 2 shades Distress Ink, Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick

Here is the finished piece before I put it back into the frame...

...and here it is in use!

The dry erase marker wipes right off  and there is no danger of damaging the beautiful background I created.  It is perfect for leaving notes or making lists AND being stylish at the same time!  Be sure to check out the Love My Tapes Etsy Shop to see the whole range of washi tape and find something to perfectly accent your decor!
