Today, we are highlighting a special designer, Patricia Roebuck, our March Guest Designer. Let's get to know her a little better.
Hello,
and thank you again to Love My Tapes for having me. My name is
Patricia Roebuck. I'm from Louisiana. I worked for a major insurance
company for 20 years prior to becoming a work at home Mom. I've been
married for 21 years. My husband and I adopted our daughter, Emma, in
July of 2009, so we consider ourselves a Chinese Adoptive Family, but
100% American. It was because of our adoption and wanting to create a
Life Book for our daughter, that I got into scrapbooking. The wait for
her was 3 1/2 years, so scrapbooking became more of art journaling and
playing with all kinds of mixed media...basically a creative outlet.
Besides watching Disney, Jr., jumping on the trampoline, swimming (in
the summer), spending time with our daughter and scrapbooking, I love
photography. Like most people now, my cell phone
(iPhone) has become my main daily camera, but there's nothing like
having the DSLR in my hands. I usually will scrap whenever I get the
chance and mostly at night. But my guilty pleasure is TV. My top two
favorite shows are Doctor Who and Merlin, both made by BBC. But I also
love Elementary, Mentalist, Person of Interest, and a few
others...guilty pleasure.
Patricia's layout is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! I am so in love with how she used the blue washi tape! Super Duper FAB!
Here's what Patricia has to say about her layout.
Blue is one of my favorite colors. It is such a calming color, and I loved how this tape had waves on it. So I decided to do a beachy layout. I don’t usually work with black and white photos, but since the wagon was red and the floaty fish was orange, I decided to make it black and white. I wanted the layout to have different shades of blue and aqua with little pops of green and brown. I laid out strips of the blue tape on kraft cardstock, then cut out hexagons (I still love them) from the background paper to adhere over it. Once that was done, I misted the hexagon shapes with a teal mist, added a few different stamps on top to give them texture, added the photo, and placed all the buttons, brads, and stamping. And again, had to use that woodgrain washi tape. I used it the same way, but on the edge of the layout. It grounded the layout and design and, again, added that perfect touch.
WOW! So awesome. Stop by Patricia's blog and check out her amazing creations! Also be sure and stop by later this month for another fantastic layout by Patricia!
