November Challenge - Sketches!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Tina here today with our November Challenge, Sketches!

We all love sketches.  They are so versatile and can be used for inspiration in many ways.  You can use them exactly as the sketch outlines, or you can use bits and pieces of the sketch to make it all your own.

This months challenges is to create a layout or card that uses this sketch as inspiration.  Please let us know how you used the sketch and what inspired you.  (Sketch created by our very own Ashley Horton)

You must use washi, lace, and/or fabric tape on your layout/card (preferably from Love My Tapes - but not required), and use the sketch as your jumping off point!

To get you started, here's a layout I created using the sketch as inspiration!

I was inspired by the section behind the photos, so I die-cut a design and layered washi tape behind the open sections to add a subtle hint of color.

The following washi tapes were used:
Red/White Dot
Teal Diagonal
Yellow Stripe

Also, in place of the second photo, I added an area of embellishments.

I also loved the arrow accents, so I incorporated arrows throughout my layout.

Here are the details for the November Challenge.

1. Create a Layout or Card that used washi/lace/fabric tape in the above sketch.  Please let us know how you were inspired.
2. The challenge is open until November 25, 2012.
3. A randomly chosen winner will win some LMT goodies.

4. Link up your projects below.

Make sure and participate as I am continually looking for future Love My Tape Guest Designers. Link up your Challenge projects here and share your other LMT projects on our Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by!

Love My Tapes + Authentique Paper = AMAZING Day Three!

LOVE MY TAPES/AUTHENTIQUE PROJECT INSPIRATION
FALL BLOG HOP

Love My Tapes and Authentique Paper have been crafty this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Love My Tapes and Authentique Paper!

To finish off this amazing week, we will be sharing projects from the LMT DT on the Love My Tapes blog, and the Love My Tapes Design Team have shared additional projects with you on their blogs with a Fall Blog Hop.
Today is the third day of project sharing!  If you missed day one or day two, be sure and check it out!

First up is Me (Tina).  I created a layout using multiple designs of washi tape for lots of color peeking behind a die-cut shape.  By layering multiple designs of washi tape behind the little windows, you can create POPs of color, without overwhelming your layout, and you can keep the focus on your photo.
I used the 'Peaceful' collection from Authentique Paper, and the following washi tapes: 'Yellow/Red Heart', 'Wht/Teal/Red Heart', 'Light Blue Diamond', 'Yellow Diamond', 'Grey/Wht Dot', 'Red Grid Heart', 'Green Check', 'Peach/Wht Dot'.   Don't all the different colors and designs look great together?

Next up is Ashely.  Ashley is giving us a great project to put us into the Christmas/Holiday Spirit.  Instagram is so HUGE right now and Ashley embellished her Instagram frames with washi tape.  Love it!

Ashley used the 'Festive' collection by Authentique Paper, and the 'Merry Christmas-Red' and the 'Red/Wht Dot' washi tapes by Love My Tapes.

Here's what Ashley had to say about her layout:
When I started working with the Festive collection, I decided to use some Christmas photos from my childhood. SInce the photos were older and not in the best condition, I added the black and white filter. There is a great vintage feel to the papers and stickers in this collection and it worked really well with these photos. I fussy cut the triangles for the Christmas trees and kept them very simple, to allow the pattern to be seen, and only added stitched edging and buttons at the tree tops. The Merry Christmas and Polka Dot Washi Tape from Love My Tapes cooridinated really well with the Festive collection. I added a strip around each of the "polaroid" photos for a little more interest.

Today is the final day to participate in the HOP.  If you haven’t had a chance to hop along with us, be sure to stop by all blogs for a chance to win some Love My Tape goodies.

October Challenge - Off the Page!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Tina here today with our October Challenge, Off the Page!

We wanted to get y'all thinking about ways to use washi, lace, and fabric tape in different ways, so what better way to 'step outta the box' then get Off the Page!

This months challenges is to create a project that takes you off the page.  No layouts, no cards!

Using washi, lace, and/or fabric tape, create a project that uses tape in a fun and innovative way!

To get you started, here's an Off the Page project I created with several LMT washi tapes.

I layered strips of several washi tapes on a piece of 12z12 cardstock for my base.

Using a die-cut machine, I cut a design on another piece of 12x12 cardstock and adhered it to the top of the tape sheet.

Doesn't that look great with the washi 'peeking out' from behind the die cut shape?  Super easy too!

Here are the details for the October Challenge.

1. Create an Off the Page project that uses tape in a fun and innovative way.

2. The challenge is open until October 26, 2012.

3. A randomly chosen winner will win some LMT goodies.

4. Link up your projects below.

Make sure and participate as I am looking for future Love My Tape Guest Designers. Link up your Challenge projects here and share your other LMT projects on our Facebook page.

Home Sweet Home Tag....

Happy Wednesday Love My Tapes friends!  Tina here today with a extra sized tag using fabric tape as wallpaper.  Say what??  Did I say wallpaper?  Yup, you heard me right!  :)

I love creating this extra sized tags.  They are like mini canvases and are different than cards or layouts.  I really enjoy pulling out bits and pieces from my stash and some Love My Tapes tapes to create these little happy pieces of fun!

I wanted to create a mini Living Room scene on my tag, so I started with the background.  I created an old cracked wall look by using spray mist and a crackle stencil to create the background of the tag.

Using the Brown Striped fabric tape, I created a wallpaper look on the bottom of the card and added a sticker to create a wallpaper border.

To complete the mini living room scene, I pulled out some leftover chipboard and die cut pieces from Crate Paper's Farmhouse collection and adhered in place.  Viola!  And it's done!

Pull out your leftover stash and create some tags!  I would love to see your creations.  Please share them on Facebook!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Monday!

Fabric Tape Flower Love!

Hi Love My Tape friends!  Tina here today with a layout that I created for CHA and with our August LMT Challenge!

I wanted to create a fast and simple layout that really showcases a super easy technique - creating custom flowers out of fabric tape.

I used the following fabric tapes for my flower:

Wild Flowers, Lily

To create the flower, use an extra large Gluber or a large glue dot or piece of adhesive.  Cut pieces of fabric tape approx. 2 1/2 - 3 inches long, keeping the adhesive backing attached.

After you cut your pieces (approx 20-30 strips - depending on how full you want your flower), began assembling the flower.

Remove approx 1/4 inch of the adhesive backing from the end of a piece of tape, fold the strip in half and adhere the tape to itself.

Attach the piece to the Gluber or large glue dot.

Continue layering the strips of tape around the glue dot until satisfied with the shape of your flower.

Add a flower shaped sticker and button, with twine, to the tape flower and adhere to your project.  Easy peasy, huh?

Ready to hear about the August Challenge?  Here are the details:

1.  Create a layout or card that includes a flower (or two or three) made from lace, fabric, and/or washi tape.
2.  The challenge is open until August 29th
3.  A randomly chosen winner will win some LMT goodies.
4.  Link up your projects below.

Make sure and participate as I am looking for future Love My Tape Guest Designers.  Link up your Challenge projects here and share your other LMT projects on our Facebook page.

We can't wait to see your LMT flowers.
