Mandala Card

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos.
Today I have a card decorated with the ancient art form of Mandalas. I used paper doilies, and Stickles, and an assortment of Love My Tapes washi for the repeating patterns.
~ Congratulations ~

 I trimmed each strip of washi length wise to fit my design.  I carefully measured and marked my paper to place the wheel and corner tape. I also laid the central strips of washi on wax paper and cut the center circle.

Little Duck Lost

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos.
Over Memorial Weekend we found a duckling, alone and frantic in the middle of the road. We brought him home and after checking with the proper authorities prepared to raise him. Ducklings don't live well without siblings and this one only made it two days. This sweet baby nestled right into our hearts in that short time and it was hard to say goodbye.

 To ease the sadness and encourage my kids to continue to do the right thing when they found a lost soul, I made them this memorial album.

 For the most part I took my color cues from my photo mats, a set of prints of Monet's work, all water themed. Love My Tapes has so many prints and shades of washi that I had no trouble embellishing the pages.

This little book has helped the kids memories fade into a sweet lesson on life and caring for others.

Ruby Slippers

Welcome back to the Love My Tapes Blog!

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos with a summer sandal layout. 

 The main colors of this layout are red and craft.
I used washi tape to add pattern and color.

 

 Under the photo mat I looped black floral washi tape.

On either side of the cascade of red blossoms I used green filigree washi tape for leaves. To form the leaves I doubled the washi tape, shaped a loop, and used hot glue to tack it down.

Birthday Tags

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos to let you in on a little secret...

Today is my BIRTHDAY!!!!

I am 41 years young and as full of crafting ideas as the day I first set scissors to paper.

To celebrate I made a pair of tags.

Everything  Nice ~

Sometimes I'm classy and perfect with everything about me just so.

No loose ends, no mistakes.

Sometimes I'm wild and free, anything goes,

and I attack life with exuberance and enthusiasm.

And some days, I look around me at the mess life is

and I choose to make something beautiful out of it.

But in everything I do I seek to be genuine.

I hope you can enjoy this day as much as I plan too!

Daylily

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos to share a layout decorated with handmade flowers.

Once I started replacing my ribbon with washi tape I discovered that my hand made flowers took on a beautiful translucent look. For this layout I made various types of flowers.

Each type of lower begins by folding the washi tape. The bicycle basket is packed with “ribbon” roses made from washi that has been folded in half lengthwise for the blue rose and in thirds for the pink roses.

The cluster of flowers above the left corner of the photo feature an open rose, with more

lengthwise/ in half folding. The foxgloves, however are folded width wise.

Here is a 4-step tutorial for making your own foxgloves.

Step 1: Measure out a 2.5 inch strip of Washi Tape

Step 2: Fold back the first inch of washi so that it sticks together and the strip is 1.5 inches long.

Step 3: Curl the washi into a cone, leaving the sticky portion free.

Step 4: Tuck the sticky washi into the cone to hold the flower together.

Plaid with Washi

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos to share a pair of plaid cards.

These beauties took a little planning, but they sure are fun!

 

For the bunny card I choose washi colors that meshed well with my background plaid paper. The bunny die-cut and white ribbon made the card oh-so classy.

But that just wasn't enough plaid for me.

I used the same colors and extended the pattern for the flower card.



Use the self-adhesive nature of washi tape to make your own plaid patterns.
Lay your tape on waxed paper and curl the end around a tooth pick.

Have a little fun with the weaving then transfer your artwork to cardstock.

Just another use for washi and another reason to love paper crafting!

You Light Up The Room

Charity from Scrappin' Chaos sharing a cheery card that uses washi in two different ways.

~ You Light Up The Room ~

 

I used washi tape to define the edge of my circle frame for this card.

First I layered the washi onto vellum, then I cut a 3.5" circle.

I adhered that to the card and cut a 2.5" circle from the center, through the washi, vellum, and card front. Finally I punched the edges of the circle with a Kreaxions punch.

For the flower at the center I backed 20" of washi tape with an identical pattern then made a ribbon rose.

With Wings Out Spread

Charity from Scrappin' Chaos here to share my latest flight of fancy with you.

I love attaching wings to my girls cut-out photos. 

This time I used Love My Tapes washi to enhance the project.

~ with WINGS out spread ~

 To ground my layers of paper scraps I used black and white washi tapes.

They serve as a connection between the various embossed black wings

 and the grey background paper.

To brighten up the page I layered washi tape on paper, cut out circles, and punched butterflies from the center. Then I scattered the circles and butterflies in the corners of the page.

Princess Gift Box

While altering this gift box I discovered how fun it is to use washi-tape as ribbon.

To begin with I removed the ribbon and magnet that latched the box.

I covered the box with a journaling card and washi tape on the back.

For the front I matched up the designs on the washi and laid the sticky sides together. The tape is very pliable and curved nicely as a bow under the flower.

 I again matched my tape back-to-back and added the magnet latch.

A handmade flower and embossed design turn-up the glam on this Princess ready gift box.

Paper Fans

Charity here from Scrappin' Chaos.
My fan die and strips of washi tape make the perfect little fans.
Here I've put a pair together for quick gifts.

The first fan is made from strips of washi-tape.
After layering the tape on a scrap of one-sided patterned paper, I positioned the die and cut each fan rib. The red, black, and white of the tape contrasts nicely.
a bit of gold ribbon and a brass brad hold things together.

 The second fan is held together with Washi Tape!!!
I folded the tape in half and used it to thread through the fan ribs.
I also used a strip of the folded tape to tie the bow.

Butterflies and Flowers

Hello!
 Charity from Scrappin' Chaos with you today.
This spring fresh card has a band of washi tape in the middle with detailed border strips on each end.

To make the border strips I stretched my washi on a paper scrap,
punched the design, trimmed the edge,

then peeled and stuck the washi border just like a band-aid!

I love how easy it is to add detail to my cards using a bright strip of washi tape!

Lucky Bird

Charity here with you today. I have a layout that illustrates how quick it is to spice up a layout with strips of washi tape. Check my blog Scrappin' Chaos to see the sketch that inspired this layout and a list of the supplies I used.

For this layout I wanted to focus on the beautiful green of the parrot. With the many colors of Love My Tapes available it wasn't hard to find a lime green to coordinate with my flowers, alphabet, and mist.

 To offset the pink and green I added strips of teal birds.

Not only did the washi tape accessorize my theme perfectly, I was able to stamp and emboss right over the top of it.
