Pre-Embellished Art Journal Pages

Hey guys, Katie here! Today I wanted to share with your how I used some fabric tape to "pre-embellish" some of my art journal pages.

Right now (almost) all of my crafting supplies are in storage, as I'm currently traveling and will be moving soon. So last month, knowing that I was going to be away from all of my supplies this Summer, I made a small art journal kit to take with me in my travels.

It includes a couple of rolls of washi tape, some watercolors, and some markers. Not much. Which is why I went ahead and added a few extra embellishments into my journal.
I used the fabric tape to add strips of tape to my page, cut out shapes like hearts, etc. I do plan on further embellishing these pages while I'm traveling using my limited supplies.

I used the hot pink tape from the DayDream Fabric Tape Value Pack. I love this bright, bold tape and the fabric gives a nice texture to my journal.

Washi Tape Art Journal Page

Hi guys, Katie here! Today I wanted to show you how I created the background on this art journal page.

You'll need 2 or more different patterns of washi tape to make this look. I used a pretty floral yellow and a contrasting teal tape. You can find our tapes in the Love My Tapes etsy shop here.

Start by placing a strip of your first color across your page. It can be any direction you want.
Next take your second color, placing a strip next to the first. Repeat this a couple of times.

Now you need to fill in the rest of the page. Turn your page 90 degrees and place the edge of your tape against the tapes you already stuck down.

So your strips of tape are going in the opposite direction as the first few.

Repeat until you've covered your page, turning your page as you need to and changing the direction of your tapes.

If you overlapped your tapes any, you can use a craft knife to clean them up.

Using Love My Tapes in your Art Journal

Hey guys, Katie here! Today I wanted to share with you a few of the ways I use Love My Tapes washi in my art journal. What I love about playing around in my art journal is that I can use all sorts of media, including washi tape. Below are a few ways I've used tape in my journal recently.

Using them as a border around the page- I use this technique quite a bit in my journal.

Use colored lace tapes- I loved the technique Tessa used for coloring the lace tapes with gelatos, so I used some orangey and melon colored gelatos to tint my lace tapes for some project life cards. I had some of the dyed tapes leftover and used them here in my journal.

Layer tapes to make a background. I haven't finished this page, obviously, but I was playing around with my tapes and wanted to create a layered background.

Ruffle your tapes- this works especially well with the fabric tapes. I ruffled the blue raindrop fabric tape along the right side of my journal page here.

Use all tapes of one color. I already shared this journal page here on the LMT blog, but I wanted to add it in to this roundup.

Tape Mosaic Art Journal Page

Hello! Tessa here with another smash book/art journal page featuring Love My Tapes. I love a good quote and I thought it would be fun to display my favorites in this smash book. For this page, I decided to mix stickers, handwriting and strips of fabric, lace and washi tapes to create a mosaic:

I didn't have a plan; I just started at the top and worked my way down. I adhered my first stickers, then added a strip of lace tape that filled the next space. I wrote out a quote, then added more tape. To make it visually interesting, I didn't always use one solid piece of tape all the way across the page. Instead, I tore pieces from different rolls, creating a mosaic effect.

Once all the quotes and tapes were down, I added number stickers to make it more list-like.

This is a great way to get a lot of designs onto one project, as well as a great way to use up small pieces you might have left on a roll. Art Journaling and Fabric Tapes

Rebecca, here! I love all of the Love My Tapes products, but when it comes to art journaling, I really love the fabric tapes. They absorb color beautifully and remain flexible.

Here's a very simple way to start using fabric tape. Just start with random strips of fabric tape.

Next, stamp your title and any other textures. Next I take my paintbrush, dip in a little water, rub on my distress ink pad and start applying to my page and fabric tape. And here you go!

Washi Tape Art Journal Page

Hi everyone, Katie here! I creating pages in my art journal. Sometimes I journal, sometimes it's just art. Today I'm sharing this page I made using washi tape, stickers and a currently card.

I received some lovely red washi tapes in my design team package. I used those, as well as a muslin/canvas fabric tape and a script washi tape on my page. They went really well with these Dream stickers I had that I've been wanting to use.

As you can see below, I started the page by making a grid with the stickers and tape.

After that, I gave it a wash of white paint, stenciled on a few feathers and attached a card with some journaling by using the black chevron tape. Overall, it was a pretty simple page, but looks really great with all of the patterns from the tape!
